  • The first definitive book on tea, ‘THE CH’A CHING’ is written by Lu Yu in 800 A.D.
  • In the year 1680, the concept of adding milk to tea was developed in Europe.
  • Tea remained popular in France for only 50 years, being replaced by a stronger preference for wine, chocolate and exotic coffees.
  • Until the sixth century, tea was consumed primarily as a remedy for headaches, kidney trouble, poor digestion, ulcers and to guard against “the noxious gasses of the body and lethargy.
  • The first samples of tea reached England between 1652 and 1654.
  • In 1904, at St. Louis World’s Fair in the United States, a tea plantation owner served the first “ICED TEA”. It was the hit of the fair.
